Worshiping Jesus when you're snowed in...

Having Christian worship in your house... Due to inclement weather and messy roads our church family, had to cancel our Sunday morning gathering.

Even though our Ascent family wasn't gathering as a church family for worship, we wanted to encourage all them to engage in worship at home...

I am one of those people who dislikes missing church worship gatherings! Not out of guilt of having a blemish on my church attendance record :) nor because of missing out on doing what I'm very passionate about, which is preaching the gospel.

The reason why I dislike missing "church" is its the one time a week our Ascent church family, collectively gathers for community and corporate worship—there is nothing I look forward to more than this!

Here are SOME ways we encouraged them to engage in worship at home...

1. Give thanks to God in prayer... Thank Him for the blessings that you experienced this past week or ask God to bring healing to your troubles or worries. Ask God to reveal Himself to you in a new and refreshing way this coming week...

2. Sing some songs of Praise about how awesome and powerful our Creator God is. You might even fire up your iTunes and listen to your favorite worship song...

3. Read some scripture verses (Here are the scripture verses I was going to preach on this Sunday... Matthew 18:24–30 and Ephesians 4:32) and meditate on the scripture verses you just read. Or go online and listen to sermon. We hope to have our sermons up on our website sometime next week...

4. Have communion at home... Use any kind of bread / tortilla / pita bread and some grape juice (Or any kind of juice for that matter—God knows your heart), and remember the cross of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)...

5. Also, giving of our financial resources is a way that we worship God. You can give to Ascent Christian Church online via our website http://www.ascentcc.com/giving. Our offering goes to the operations of the church, to meeting some needs of those in need in our church and community, and to the furthering of the gospel—we are helping support the OCEF and Stan Peterson plant a new church in Sisters.

6. Love you neighbor by shoveling their driveway and walkway (If you are able to...)

Nothing compares to the church family being together, but when circumstances don't allow that to happen; followers of Jesus can worship the risen savior, anywhere and anytime.

What our family did...

Our family spent part of the morning in worshipping Jesus at our home.

My son played his guitar, and led is I'm singing "Mighty to Save" and we also fired up the iTunes playlist and sang along with Oceans and God is Able. We also spent time in prayer and reading scripture and discussing what we read. We also shoveled our neighbors walkways.

It was a great time and we were all filled with the Spirit and overjoyed by how awesome our God is!
