The photo at the top of this blog site (The one in the header of the blog - near my name) is a place located near where I grew-up. The place is called Goat Rock and is located off the Sonoma coast in Northern California. This place has been the spot of a lot of memories for me. I remember going there as a kid and climbing about three feet high and thinking that I was on top of the world , cutting classes in high school and spending the day there, and as a young adult spending many lunch breaks there. One memory in particular, I remember I was about 18 or 19 years old (Maybe younger or older - I can't remember) and I climbed to the top of this so-called rock (More like plateau) with my cousin and we just chilled up on the top for a while, looking over the edge into the ocean waters below. Mind several people were told to have died falling over the side into the waters - but we did care or had sense enough to realize that could happen to us. When it was time to leave, we climbed down part of it and then slide down other parts - when we realized that several patrol cars, both county deputys and park rangers were waiting for us. After threatening to take us to jail, and telling us that several people have died over the years doing what we did, they gave us a ticket and drove away (There is more to the story, but I don't really want to share it here). The ticket cost me $275.00 fine and 20 hours of community service which I spent cleaning bathrooms at the Santa Rosa Veterans Hall (Or Memorial Hall, I can't remember).
I remembered this story, because I am getting home sick and wanted to see picture of the Sonoma coast. Man - I miss the ocean! I miss the smell of the salt air, I miss the cold breeze of the north coast, I miss the sand getting everywhere you don't want it to get, I miss the fog, I miss the warm weather all of a sudden turning really cold and me forgetting to bring a hoody. I miss walking in the ocean tide with my barefeet and feeling the tingling of the sand run between my toes. I miss the sound of the fog horn echoing through the bay, I miss looking out over the sun setting and thinking that somewhere over the endless ocean waves - that it does actually end somewhere and it is probably in Japan or some place like that. I miss the pitch black sky and the countless stars, and I miss being with my wife, my kids, my friends and my family, playing football in the sand, hunting for easter eggs, eating food covered with sand. And I miss being alone and hearing the ocean waves crash against the California shore.
I miss being home and looking out over an ocean view...
This is my blog. It is going to be a blog about my life - past, present, and future. It is going to be anything I want it to be, funny, sad, upset, contemplative, sarcastic, and sometimes boring. Read and enjoy.
